  • Do you accept health insurance?
No, I do not accept health insurance. As a private pay practice, I have the flexibility to offer more individualized and targeted care. While I cannot provide a super-bill for insurance reimbursement, I can assist you in navigating any necessary labs, imaging, or studies with providers that do accept insurance. Surprisingly, many find that opting for private pay is often more cost-effective than using insurance.
  • Can I use my HSA/FSA card as a form of payment?
Certainly! When scheduling your appointment, a non-refundable deposit is required to secure it. You can enter your credit card information into our secure and confidential EHR system, Jane APP, during this process.
  • Do I need labs (bloodwork)? If so, how much does it cost?
Honestly, it depends on the time span of your most recent lab results. Generally speaking, labs are essential for a precise wellness plan, offering real-time insights into your body's condition. The most recent labs I like to interpret are within 3-6 months of time with one year being the absolute latest. All lab results over a years time is not the most helpful. During our initial visit, I will recommend comprehensive screening labs, covering cardiovascular, metabolic, hormonal, thyroid, blood counts, kidney, liver function, nutritional deficiencies, and autoimmunity. These labs, totaling about $300-350, are tailored to your individual needs and ordered after the first visit, if necessary. For follow-up testing, costs will be lower, starting around $200. Specialty labs (stool testing, organic acids, environmental panels, Lyme panels, etc.) have separate costs per test, and I recommend them only when immediately necessary. If cost is a concern, we can begin with the basics and expand later. Also, I don't mind if you prefer taking my list of recommended labs to your PCP for insurance coverage. However, some of the panels I order are more in-depth than what conventional practitioners typical order. The panels I order are worth the cost & I make sure I use a lab that gives you the best cost while maintaining excellent standards & reliability. screening VS speciality labs: screening labs are typically used for routine or general health assessments to identify common health issues or check for specific conditions. [cbc, cmp, lipid panel, urine testing, etc.] WHEREAS, speciality labs are designed to investigate specific health concerns or conditions in more detail. They focus on particular areas or functions of the body. [hormones, genetic markers, stool kits, allergen tests, lyme panel, etc.] During our appointment, we will chat about which labs (screening &/or speciality) are warranted & how to obtain testing kits.
  • How do I reschedule/cancel my appointment?
If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, it's a breeze through the Jane App Client portal. Simply log in to your account, where you can easily manage your appointments. Or, contact me at 872.240.4807. Please keep in mind our 24-hour cancelation/reschedule policy; any changes made within this timeframe ensure smooth adjustments. However, appointments designated as 'no-show,' or rescheduled/canceled outside of this policy, will still be charged the non-refundable deposit fee.
  • Can you be my PCP (Primary Care Physician)?
No, I cannot act as your Primary Care Physician. In the state of Illinois, naturopathic doctors are not recognized as licensed physicians. I operate as a health consultant, offering holistic guidance and support. For comprehensive healthcare needs, I recommend that all new clients have a primary care provider who can conduct in-person annual physical exams and manage prescription medications. This ensures you receive well-rounded care that encompasses both naturopathic and traditional medical perspectives. ✨For those interested, you can check the states where Naturopathic doctors are licensed, here. Additionally, your support is crucial to advocate for regulation in the state of Illinois, and can do so here. ✨
  • Do you prescribe medication?
No, I do not prescribe medication, and I prefer it that way. In the state of Illinois, as a Naturopathic Doctor (ND), prescribing medications is outside the scope of my practice. While NDs in other states like California, Arizona, Washington, etc., have prescription rights, I would still choose not to prescribe even if I were in one of those states. My focus is on the vitalist approach to health, emphasizing natural methods and lifestyle choices for healing. To clarify, I am not entirely opposed to medications. My years of experience in the operating room have reinforced my understanding of their necessity.
  • I'm not in Chicago, can I still work with you?
Absolutely! You can still work with me even if you're not in Chicago. All consultations are conveniently conducted virtually, by video chat, using a secure and HIPAA-compliant platform called Jane APP. This means I happily offer consultations to clients outside the state of IL and even internationally. Your location will not be a barrier to receiving naturopathic care. :)
  • What is the difference between Naturopathic medicine, Holistic medicine, & Functional medicine?
Great question! Each approach offers unique perspectives, but they share the common goal of promoting overall health and well-being. Here's a short overview: 1. Naturopathic Medicine: A holistic approach focusing on natural therapies and the body's inherent ability to heal. Utilizes a wide range of natural remedies, lifestyle adjustments, and personalized wellness plans. Addresses the root cause of health issues, considering physical, mental, and emotional aspects. 2. Holistic Medicine: Takes a comprehensive view of health, considering the mind, body, and spirit. Integrates conventional and alternative therapies to address the whole person. Focuses on preventive measures and empowers individuals to actively participate in their well-being. 3. Functional Medicine: Explores the root cause of diseases, emphasizing the interconnectedness of bodily systems. In-depth analysis of genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. Aims to restore balance and function to the body for long-term health. As a naturopathic doctor, I integrate principles from all three methodologies, tailoring my approach to your unique needs. Together, we will create a wellness plan that considers your holistic well-being, addresses root causes, and promotes optimal health. It's an inclusive approach that embraces the best of natural, functional, and holistic medicine for your benefit.
